HPP

High-Performance Program

The CFF Veterans Committee is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the Veterans High Performance Program (HPP) 2026–2027.

The HPP is open to all veteran members of the CFF and has been created with two primary objectives.

First, and most importantly, the HPP provides a framework to support the development of Canadian veteran fencers. The program will help provide opportunities for athlete development, coaching, training, performance tracking, and preparation for international competition. As veteran fencing continues to grow in Canada, it is important that we establish a structured pathway to help our athletes succeed on the international stage.

Second, the HPP will help generate much-needed funding to support Canada’s Veteran National Team. The cost of sending a Canadian team to the Veteran World Championships has increased significantly in recent years. Registration costs have risen with growing participation and the addition of the 40–49 age category. In addition, the CFF now requires that the Team Chef de Mission be a member of the CFF staff. In the past, this role was typically filled by a team member at little or no additional cost.

While the International Veterans Cup (CanAms) continues to cover athlete registration fees for the Veteran World Championships, additional funding is required to meet these new requirements and to support the continued growth of the veteran program. The annual HPP membership fee of $50 will help support these objectives.

Membership in the Veterans High Performance Program (HPP) is required to earn selection points toward the Canadian Veteran National Team. Only HPP members are eligible to earn selection points and be considered for team selection.

Selection points will not be awarded retroactively. Athletes must join the HPP before competing in a selection event for points to count. The first selection event for the 2026–2027 season is the 2026 Veteran World Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia.
